I was a defense witness for the MacDonald case years ago. My husband then (now ex but still very good friends) and I were friends with Greg Mitchell. They worked together and he had a very nice wife that I was friends with. This was after he was out of the service and lived in Charlotte, North Carolina. Long story short, Greg made certain admissions to both of us that we felt would be helpful to the defense. We believed at the time that MacDonald was innocent and we wanted to help. We contacted his attorney and he sent a special investigator to speak with us. We gave statements and actually corresponded with Inmate for awhile. His letters were always about me, me and I and how unfair the system was to him. Never a word about his poor murdered family. We stopped corresponding years ago but stayed interested in case. Several years ago, I emailed his current wife at her website and asked for an update on the case. Months went by and nothing from her so I searched the internet and came across Christina Masewicz' s website. I emailed her and she responded almost immediately by calling me. I then read everything on her site and I the rest is history. I came to know that he was 100% guilty beyond any doubt. Kathryn contacted my ex and wanted to have my telephone number but he told if she called me it would not be pleasant....lol
That is the short version. If anyone else wants to share, please do.

I had read McGinnis' book and seen the TV movie. However, in 2007, I attended a Continuing Legal Ed class taught by Jim Blackburn. It was in Asheville NC. There was a morning class and an afternoon. I was attending both and ended up having lunch with Blackburn. We talked some about the case and then I was hooked. I found Christina's site and have followed the case closely ever since. I have always believed Mac is guilty and have never wavered about it.

I became interested in this case because our office was moved from a DC location to nearby Arlington location and we had about 10 days of only partial computer connectivity. We could access the internet but our email was hit or miss, so waiting for techs to come by and fix the problems node by node meant finding things to do....so I searched out things to read on-line and came across the old A&E boards. Reading through the threads I came across the inmate thread and JusttheFacts had posted a thread that says (paraphrasing) "what do these facts mean to you"? So, I read through the list of items he had included and responded. I admitted I knew very little of the case, had a vague recollection of the made for tv movie Fatal Vision, BUT.....and then answered what my gut said about the evidentiary items listed. JTF responded, then cami, and then a couple of others and next thing I knew I was reading FV, taking pages and pages of notes at Christina's site and I never stopped following from that point on.....I am 13 months older than Kimmie.....the details hit home for me.....
was just reminded today that we moved to this office space 17 years ago this week - so I joined the discussions 17 years ago this week!

Hey Everyone!
It was either 1986 or 87 that I first saw the miniseries Fatal Vision. Something knawed at me and I went to the library and got the book. I read and reread the book numerous times. I thought he might be innocent so I wrote to him. To my surprise he wrote me back. We wrote to each other for almost 3 years. Please understand the only information I had was only from him. One Christmas I ran to the store for something and he called me. He was upset that I wasn't there waiting for him to call. (I had no idea that he would) Anyways, he was upset but we started talking about football and we got into an argument about the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49 er's. He said that Denver and San Fran could never go to the superbowl. Anyhow that year denver and San Fran did go to the Super Bowl. He never called again. Go figure... Years and years of reading transcripts and doing research I now have no doubt in my mind that inmate killed his wife and babies in 1970.

He did call you a few times and all you did was whine and cry about how bad things were in your life. You started the argument and hung up on him because he said he did not want to marry you.
You were there were you? Just because YOU wish inmate were free to marry you does not mean every woman that ever talked to him wanted such an arrangement. Pammy treated inmate with more respect than he deserved and he treated her with condescension (just like I am sure that if you actually DO communicate with him he treats you the same way).
Why don't you stop attacking others and if you truly want to participate in this particular topic ANSWER THE QUESTION POSED otherwise go away.

Hey Everyone!! First off I would like to thank everyone for being on this board. Byn, OWC.Jtf and Gwyka you all have been very special to me. I am going to lay in all on the table. I thought that Jeffrey Robert McDonald was my friend. He helped me when I was going thru a painful divorce. He did I have always been honest about that. But!!!! He only called me once. And yes I will stress that. He liked to give me shit about football. That's it! HE WAS MY FRIEND so I thought. I believed in him. I try to believe in positive not negetive. Christina (thank you), you changed my whole way of thinking. I have read thousands of pages and as gruesome as they are, looked at the pictures trying to figure out why would he do that????? One reason, can't keep it in his pants. Wants no children (unlesstheyareboys) An onfornutate ones like me and a few others think that we are stupid to believe in him anyways.
There was never any talk of marriage. Although he did ask me to move to California to be close to him. There Rebby!! This is fact!! I know you are really dellusional
Here is another fact.Kristen and I are one week apart literally. Ask Jeff when MY birthday is. I know he knows!
Here's a question for you Rebby. Why were the footprints exiting Kristen's room in Colttes blood? Why was it proven that the pj top was torn with Colettes blood on it before the supposed attack? No blood in the living room where four intruders attacked. WOW!! Geez, if I were on a jury.............. I would convict.

I became interested in the case when I was way too young. My mother liked true-crime stories & watched the movie Fatal Vision when it first aired in 1983 (I was in the third grade) clearly I was not the target audience, but it gave me nightmares as we lived in a tense DV household.
I found this message board because OWC responded to a question I had about the old one ;)

The TV Movie aired on consecutive nights, 18-19 Nov, 1984. I was also watching, but I was in college at the time. I am around the same age as Kimmie. That was my first introduction to the case and I never forgot it.
It was one of the highest rated TV shows of the year. Karl Malden won an Emmy for his portrayal of Freddy. It was also nominated for outstanding drama special, and for an Emmy in the categories of makeup, directing and writing.
Around 1987 I was in a used bookstore and saw a hardcover copy of the book, and remembering the movie, I bought it, and I still have it to this day on my bookshelf. I read it many times, and became very familiar with the case, and of course, convinced of his guilt. The book was released in August, 1983. Years went by and I was busy with work, and kids of my own. Then in July, 1998, I read the article in Vanity Fair "The Devil and Jeffrey Macdonald", and it all came rushing back. Sometime after that I discovered Christina's website.

I knew Joe McGinniss, so I once wrote to Jeff for a time to check him out myself, and I believe him guilty. I've never had contact with anyone else involved in Jeff's case except Jerry Potter, Fred Bost, and Joe. Loved Joe in a friendly way. He was a great guy. Terrific writer. Miss my conversations with him a lot.
