That was quoted discussion, not actual interview of Mac. Now if we’re trying to decide if there’s any remorse, it would make a difference

Wrong again. “I am innocent,” he says in an exclusive jailhouse interview in this week’s issue of PEOPLE magazine. “I did not murder my family. I have always told the truth about what happened that night.”

Ms. Egan actually went to the prison in Maryland and interviewed, him.

People Magazine interviewed Jeffrey MacDonald, a North Carolina man who is fighting his 1979 murder conviction, for the cover of their January 30th issue.

Re: Has MacDonald finally given up?

And it doesn’t matter if he was quoted as saying something.  I want to see him like in Larry King live with the words coming out of his mouth.  Like I said, his last real interview was in 2005

Re: Has MacDonald finally given up?

So what Red?  What is your point?
Are you claiming that he has shown remorse?
Or are you saying I can't prove he has not shown remorse since he has not spoken publicly in recent years?
I don't know why I am bothering with you Red, as you are talking in riddles and not making sense.
Remorse is the opposite of what he has always shown. It is absurd of you to claim he may be showing remorse  and then put it back on me saying I don't know for sure.
This is your last chance with me Red.
Say something that makes sense.

Re: Has MacDonald finally given up?

Nobody knows what Mac is going to do next.   Maybe he comes clean and admits to the crime to get parole.    I would consider it at this point.  This entire situation is basically the Grand jury being predudiced against Mac to please someone (. Now I’m not gonna say who because I’m not going to go there) but those who know know.  And please don’t say the Grand jury made a easy decision on the case.

Do you even know the meaning of an interview?

Interview. Definition: Interview refers to a formal, in-depth conversation between two or more persons

Why would you need to see the words coming out of his mouth?

The prison interview with MacDonald was a
REAL interview.

Re: Has MacDonald finally given up?

If someone is trying to determine “ remorse ‘, or lack of, facial expression and voice analysis would give you a better feel of the situation.

During the People Magazine interview, he said “I did not murder my family. I have always told the truth about what happened that night.”

I do not need to see his lips to know that does not show remorse.

Re: Has MacDonald finally given up?

Red - you are contradicting yourself.

You say JRM might in future come clean and admit to the crime. (This acknowledges that he did it)

Then you say the Grand Jury was prejudiced,  implying that they should not have returned an idictment.

Once the evidence was put in front of a GJ, an indictment was inevitable. There was a mountain of evidence by 1974.

Your focus on the GJ is misplaced.  It's like you are fantasizing that it all could have been stopped by the GJ.
Your beloved Mac would have skated free.
But it was not meant to be.
He made a terrible choice to murder his family, and he is living with the consequences.
Legal maneuvers will not change that.
Not SCOTUS, or the GJ  or parole or anything else.
He is stuck with it.
Just like his victims are stuck with it.

No worries.  I realize my beloved Mac isn’t getting out. I’ve made peace with it

Re: Has MacDonald finally given up?

James Blackburn has grace and class, and yes, he made a mistake and payed for it.
But all this does not take away the excellent job in 1979. The sentence stands to this day. Even former members of the jury said that. Blackburn made this complicated case simple to the jury, by using MacDonald‘s own statements and proved them to be a lie. Eroll Morris says in AWOE: it doesn‘t make any sense….well, just because it doesn‘t make sense, it sure won‘t make MacDonald innocent, just because it doesn‘t make sense. I know the facts of this case, for over 30+ years. I am convinced, that in the end, it was MacDonald himself who nailed his own coffin, and in that he will leave prison.
