I keep looking for a new attempt by MacDonald to be heard and get out. But, nothing. I believe he has no hope with the parole board unless he admits his guilt and convinces them he is genuinely sorry. Even if he admits his guilt and true remorse, I believe his chance of a parole is doubtful. The crimes were horrendous and his behavior over the years has been arrogant and selfish. I don’t believe the parole board will release him. So what is left, except living and dying in prison? Have all the failures finally buried him and he’s given up?
I would love to read some other opinions. Thanks.

Hi TexasPoet
I am thinking that he is still hoping to get out because of health issues. He is only a shell of the man he used to be.

Hi One Who Cares,
You are so right that he is just a shell of the man that he used to be. That is why I believe he may have given up. I don’t see any other avenue that he has left with health issues. Thanks for posting. I always appreciate your thoughts.

TexasPoet - Good question. I doubt that he has given up. His longstanding pattern has been optimism, and that will likely continue, although it seems absurd at this point.
Of course he will continue to claim innocence, because his identity is tied up in it now.
Although he is losing his enthusiasm for it. He has not given an interview in many years. He did not speak at the 2005 parole hearing. His wife read a written statement.
He only speaks with a dwindling group of sycophants who will not contradict him.
Brian Murtagh said he would never accept his fate and just do his time quietly.
At the very end, say around age 85, if he has failing health and only a few months to live, he may apply for compassionate release. If he is turned down, then he will accept his fate of dying in prison. But we won't hear much about that. Him and his inner circle would not want to give us the satisfaction. When he finally dies, there will be a smarmy statement released that he never stopped fighting to clear his name, and that the conviction was "controversial".

Grandfather,
Excellent points, and I am sure you are correct. He probably has fantasies where there is almost universal proclamation of his innocence, because “he never gave up!”” Yuk! He knows he is guilty, unless he truly has lost his mind. He knows what he did, and why. He is a monster. I do believe he may have given up and resigned himself to dying in prison. There will be no more People magazine type articles. No more fanboy books. And the light of celebrity is dimming. I wonder if he believes in God.
I know you and I both agree if he ever gets out, he will be a very dangerous powder keg waiting for a spark.

I am certain he does not believe in God.
When he paused after attacking Colette and Kimmy, he could have stopped.
But he chose to finish them off and Kristen too.
He thought he could get away with that because he didnt believe in a final reckoning.
He didnt believe in an afterlife, so he never thought he would have to meet them again and explain why he killed them.
And all his behavior for the past 50 years demonstrates that he continues to believe that.
If he had found God at some point over the last 50 years, he would have confessed his sins and repented. He has not done that.

You are so right! He has one God; himself! A true narcissist.

Maybe he just needs to come clean and admit guilt ( even if he didn’t actually do it). Otherwise he’s not going home

He DID actually do it. 100% guilty, tried and convicted based on solid evidence, and through the courts more than any other criminal case. No doubts.
And it will take more than an admission to get him home, he has to show remorse.
Are you Rebbie?
